On November 16, 2007, over 100 guests — representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines — joined 4CTechnologies, IBM and local law firm Thorp Reed & Armstrong for an informative seminar on e-Mail Archiving and Content Management. The presentation was structured to address the specific needs of the audience members, as dictated by their response to 4CTechnologies’ registration survey. Critical issues for audience members included managing compliance expectations, the ease of implementation, the ability to adapt and use the technology solution, as well as how the solution manages content and records.

Michael McSwaney from 4CTechnologies began the morning by welcoming the guests and detailing the reasoning behind planning for the event and the 4CTechnologies / IBM / Thorp Reed partnership. David G. Ries and Stuart C. Gaul, Jr., Partners at Thorp Reed & Armstrong, did an excellent job of explaining the new federal rules on eDiscovery, the impact of the new rules on legal proceedings and how companies can begin to go about demonstrating compliance. Tom Reding, Executive Consultant from IBM was able to identify for the audience the key steps to initiating change towards compliance and eDiscovery solutions in any organization — minimizing exposure and maximizing the return of investment.

4CTechnologies’ Solution Architect Greg Micher served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event, and directed a lively panel discussion following the presentation. Lunch was followed by a demonstration of the IBM CommonStore Solution on both an Exchange and Notes platform. Best of all, the audience was invited to stay and tour the Heinz History Center, visiting their newest exhibit highlighting the Pittsburgh Steelers 75th Anniversary.
